Sometimes you want to see your images with a lighter background than the default dark grey. Read more in-depth about Sessions in our User Guide. If you need this done, add the folder as a Favorite or import the images into a Session Folder. It’s important to mention that this will not add the folder or images to any indexed database. Simply drag an image from any folder into a Capture One Session, or browse the folder via the Library Tool, and the content of that folder will show. This is useful if you need to quickly edit and export a few images where the RAW files don’t need to be stored anywhere inside a Catalog or Session afterward. When working in a Session, you can browse any folder on any available drive and see the content of this folder. Capture One offers two different database types, where Sessions is the original way of working in Capture One. If you’re not familiar with Sessions in Capture One, you have probably been working in Catalogs, where you must import any image you need to work on. Simply click and hold the name of the slider to temporarily view the ‘before’ version. Every slider has a before/after function.You can reset any slider by double-clicking anywhere on it.If you’re on a laptop, scrolling using the trackpad works just the same. If you place your cursor on any slider and use the scroll wheel, you move the slider.Even though they seem straightforward, there are a few tricks to learn that might optimize how you edit your images. Sliders make up most of the adjustment interface in Capture One.

The Duplicate Checker makes sure that you don’t import the same file twice in your Catalog or Session.
By storing the crop as a Path in your exported PSD file, the full image can be used for retouching or even alternate cropping at a later stage. When applying a crop in Capture One, you can now use the Export Path to include the crop as a path when you export to PSD. Use with the improved Auto Mask function for precision results. Create a clean and adjustable mask with many uses, for example, picking out hair against a background. The Refine Edge lets you make a more precise edge on your mask. Avoid having to redraw masks by simply dragging a slider to feather the edges. Softening the edges of a mask after drawing is simplified with the Feather Mask feature. Once adjustments are made across as many tools as needed, simply drag the opacity slider to decrease the overall impact of the layer. Layer OpacityĬontrol the impact of your local adjustments by changing the opacity of each layer. Local Adjustments has been renamed to Layers and is now included in multiple Tool tabs, making it easier to work with a layered editing workflow. With this we are introducing a new and more dynamic workspace. Layered WorkflowĪll adjustment tools are now compatible with Layers, making Capture One a truly “layer centric” application. Include the Annotations in your exported PSD file as a separate layer for ideal flexibility. Use it to remember what caught you in the moment, make notes to share with your retoucher, or simply jot down a reminder for yourself for later.
